2015 Ready to Learn Program Success

School SuppliesOur 16th annual Ready to Learn (R2L) campaign wrapped up at the end of July, and with the help of our Community Partners, individual donors and the public, we raised more than $44,380 in total monetary and school supply donations!

We collected approximately $10,780 in financial contributions and enough school supplies to create more than 3,360 kits (valued at $10 each) for low-income and homeless students. This helped us distribute more than 4,070 educational kits to students before the start of the 2015-2016 school year. And we will continue to build and disperse school supply kits all year long through our referral-based system and partnerships with recognized social service agencies around the state.

Mahalo to all of our 2015 Community Partners, especially KITV and American Savings Bank. KITV once again supported R2L through their annual School Tools school supply drive effort, and ASB used their statewide reach to offer the community collection points on most islands.

All of our Community Partners gave generously and brought additional awareness to the R2L program and the importance of having the right tools for a successful education. These local businesses and groups supported R2L by promoting the program, collecting donations and volunteering their time to pack educational supply kits for the students. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support we received this year from organizations in a variety of fields and industries. All of their assistance enables HHH to serve more students in need throughout the year.

These collaborations encourage us to continue to strive for solutions that will benefit our community by working together and supporting one another. Mahalo to everyone for their generous donations and desire to help students succeed in the classroom!
