Communications and Development Specialist
“Helping Hands Hawaii provides me with an opportunity to do good work with good people for the betterment of our community. By joining together, we are able to increase our ability to reach those who need the most assistance.”
Dorian serves as Communications and Development Specialist and is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive public relations and fund development strategy for the agency. Her duties include assisting with fundraising events, like the Annual Dinner, managing the agency’s website and social media presence, coordinating annual giving efforts, facilitating donor relations, writing grant proposals and collaborating with many of the agency’s Program Managers to promote their programmatic initiatives.
Dorian is a graduate of Mililani High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned a BA in English and a BA in Journalism-Public Relations. She authored a children’s book for which the Hawaii Book Publishers Association awarded an honorable mention at the 2012 Ka Palapala Pookela Awards.
Fun fact: Dorian has been a kangaroo and wallaby “mum” to injured and orphaned joeys in Australia and happily participated in their release back into the wild.
