#JoinTheMovement to Help Local Nonprofits

Aloha United Way (AUW) kicked off its 2016 campaign today at Tamarind Park, and Helping Hands Hawaii staff were there with other nonprofit organizations and AUW supporters! This year’s theme is #JoinTheMovement, and we hope that you decide to join the movement to help local nonprofits.

AUW Kick Off

Each year businesses in the community organize workplace campaigns, and employees donate to AUW through payroll deductions, credit card transactions, checks or cash. Donors may designate their gifts to support a specific nonprofit organization, one of AUW’s community impact areas or AUW’s general fund.

Cindy and JanWhat do these donations do? They support programs and services that can affect the lives of your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and their families in times of crisis. They help people find the assistance they need and inspire them to make positive changes in their lives. They help transition one more homeless person into permanent housing; find one more animal a forever home; and give one more sick child a day she can remember forever. When individuals #JoinTheMovement, they create a wave of support through their workplace campaign donations and become part of the solution to many of Hawaii’s social challenges. Helping Hands Hawaii is one of the many service providers that benefit from public contributions to AUW. We use these funds to help individuals and families get back on their feet during tough times. We provide them with the basic necessities and resources they need to achieve a more stable lifestyle. We also help them bridge language gaps through interpretation and translation services and help mentally ill adults thrive despite their diagnoses. Our agency engages with the most vulnerable populations in the community every day, and our goal is to help others to help themselves.

Meg and Mary AnneIf you would like to contribute to Helping Hands Hawaii through your AUW workplace campaign, make sure you list our AUW Agency Designation Number, #96520, when making your pledge or donation. Your gifts in 2016 will be distributed in 2017 and will directly benefit the agency and all of the people we serve.

If you would like to invite us to your company to speak to your employees during your workplace campaign, contact AUW at (808) 536-1951 so they can schedule us.

From all of us at Helping Hands Hawaii to all of you in the community who support the work of AUW and all of its partner agencies . . . MAHALO!Sam and Allena
