Adopt A Family (AAF) is a seasonal program administered by Helping Hands Hawai‘i during the holidays that links individuals and families in need with kind donors in the community. Participants are referred to the program through our large network of community partners, and donors participate by adopting a family and fulfilling their holiday Wish Lists.
Through generous partnerships with KITV, The Star-Advertiser and Hawaii News Now, a number of families are able to share their stories with a wider audience. But, there are hundreds of additional families who aren’t featured and who also need our support. Our goal each year is for all participants to receive items from their Wish Lists that bring them hope and one step closer to a brighter new year.
The Adopt A Family program continues to reach individuals and families because of the generosity of our donors. Each year approximately 600 families receive love and support from donors in the community.
If you would like to become a donor and support these families in need, email a completed AAF Donor Information Form to AAF@helpinghandshawaii.org. For more detailed information, visit our Adopt A Family FAQ page or download the FAQs here, Adopt A Family FAQ 2016. The deadline to submit your donor form and drop off Wish List items is Saturday, December 10, 2016.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the AAF program, contact us at (808) 440-3800 or AAF@helpinghandshawaii.org.
Note: The Adopt A Family program consumer application and referral period is closed. Consumers seeking holiday assistance may contact AAF@helpinghandshawaii.org to be placed on the Wait List. Placement on the Wait List does not guarantee assistance. If assistance is available after all AAF families have been adopted, households will be contacted in the order that they were received on the Wait List.
