Community Clearinghouse

DSC_0212The Community Clearinghouse provides individuals and families in need with basic necessities, such as food, clothing, furniture and basic household items. All of the items are given away for free and are provided through generous donations from the local community.

As Oahu’s central collection and distribution center for donated goods, the Community Clearinghouse provides tens of thousands of low-income and homeless individuals and families with more than several-million dollars in donated goods each year.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
**The warehouse is closed on weekends and on most major holidays.**

Donation pick-up service is also available for donations of at least one large item. Donation pick-up is only available for ground-level or elevator-accessible dwellings. Our driver is unable to navigate stairs due to liability reasons.

Help those in need by donating:

  • Beds – all sizes, especially single beds
  • Household furniture – dining tables, sofas, coffee tables, chairs
  • Small appliances – microwaves, electric kettles, fans
  • Clothing – all types and sizes
  • Accessories – footwear, handbags, backpacks
  • Linens, towels, mats
  • Hygiene – shampoo, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine products, etc.

Based on client need and liability concerns, we are unable to accept:

  • Infant/child car seats, strollers, carriers and cribs
  • Sporting equipment – treadmills, weight lifting machines, golf clubs, etc.
  • Hospital/medical equipment – hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches
  • Custom-built appliances
  • Any musical instrument
  • Computers and related equipment, specialized electronics

We kindly ask that all donations be in good, working order without any visible damage to the items. We are unable to accept items that are broken, torn, dirty, rusted or in need of repair, because we do not currently have the staff or budget to refurbish them. Donations are distributed in “as is” condition to consumers, so our staff may decline a donation if, in their judgment, it is not in a clean, usable condition.

Please check all items for personal effects before donating as donations are often made available to clients within one day of the pick-up. In these cases, you may not be able to search for your personal effects because the donated item may no longer be in our possession.

For more information about the Community Clearinghouse or to schedule a donation pick-up for items, please call us at 440-3800 or e-mail cch@helpinghandshawaii.org.
