The Ready to Learn (RTL) program helps students in grades K to 12 by providing them with free school supplies throughout the year, especially during the main back-to-school season. Founded in partnership with the late U.S. Senator Daniel and Maggie Inouye in 1999, the program continues to ensure that more than 7,000 low-income and homeless students receive basic supplies each year.
Active community support is vital to the success of RTL. Individuals and groups can help by collecting monetary gifts and school supply donations through fundraising efforts of their own or volunteering their time to help put the school supply kits together. If you would like to get involved, submit a completed RTL Community Partner Application to firstname.lastname@example.org , and we’ll send you a Donor Information Kit. The kit includes helpful hints, important dates, sample posters and other materials that may help you plan your activity. Additionally, you may review the Ready to Learn FAQ for Donors page for frequently asked questions.
A small donation of $10 will assemble a basic school supply kit for one child in need. All online donations through our website from 6/1/16 – 7/31/16 are earmarked to support RTL. Alternatively, you may drop off or mail your donation to:
