Sprinting Back to School – Shoe Drive for Students in Need

SPRINTING BACK TO SCHOOL POSTERPeople don’t often think accessories, like shoes, are vital tools for a child’s learning. But, without them, children may be kept at home or be too embarrassed to go to class. Their absence limits their ability to learn, participate in P.E. and field trips and segregates them from their peers, which highlights their family’s financial struggles.

To help local children receive quality educations, throughout September Sprint proudly supports “Sprinting Back to School,” a shoe donation drive to benefit Hawaii’s low-income and homeless students who are unable to afford footwear for school.

New pairs of closed-toe shoes can be dropped off at Sprint locations on Oahu and Kauai. Oahu donations benefit our Community Clearinghouse, which provides free basic essentials to families in need. Kauai donations benefit our partners Child & Family Service and their Nana’s House and Hale Hoomalu programs, which offer a wide range of family support programs.

On-site collection events with radio station 102.7 Da Bomb, its DJs and Helping Hands Hawaii volunteers will feature a DJ, refreshments and exciting giveaways from some of Hawaii’s best local attractions, restaurants and entertainment. Additionally, Sprint is offering back-to-school wireless deals during shoe drives at the following locations:

Ala Moana Store
660 Ala Moana Blvd Ste. 100
Saturday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Wahiawa Store
823 California Ave
Saturday, Sept. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Pearl Kai Store
98-199 Kamehameha Hwy B4
Saturday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m.

We hope to see you at a Sprinting Back to School event! But, if you can’t make it, you can still drop off donations at any Sprint location throughout September. Your donations will inspire, uplift and motivate local students to excel and succeed in the classroom! Mahalo for your support!
