Volunteers Positively Impact Community through Ready to Learn Efforts

IMG_1223

Every year volunteers support our Ready to Learn (RTL) efforts in a variety of ways. They bring with them enthusiasm, positive attitudes and a willingness to get the job done, no matter what the job requires. Because of this, volunteers positively impact our community!

What exactly do RTL volunteers do? Volunteers are with us each and every step of the way! They help us create space in the Community Clearinghouse and set up RTL prep stations. They review and organize existing inventory, which makes it easier for other volunteers to pack items into the supply kits. Volunteers sort through donations we receive from individuals and groups who rally at off-site school supply drives. They build the K-5 and 6-12 school supply kits and ensure that the completed products are labeled for easy identification. Volunteers are often on-hand to help us with the distribution of school supplies to our partner social service agencies.

This year, we were fortunate that many volunteer groups extended helping hands. Their support impacted the efficiency and effectiveness of RTL operations. The teams from American Savings Bank, our primary banking partner for RTL, truly put in a courageous effort by signing up for multiple days and contributing several volunteer hours each day.

For a small taste of what it’s like to be a RTL volunteer, check out a video by American Savings Bank. We couldn’t do it without all of you! A great big Mahalo to all of our amazing volunteers!
