Christy's Volunteer Journey at Helping Hands Hawai‘i
Christy’s dedication to service shines brightly through her volunteer work with Helping Hands Hawai‘i, especially during the holiday seasons. She shares, “I was lucky enough to work with the Helping Hands Hawaii team and also volunteer during the holiday seasons. Working with individuals who devote their lives to the mission of Helping Hands Hawaii has been inspiring.”
Christy observed the significant impact of SNAP benefits on clients’ lives, enhancing not only their physical well-being but their mental health as well. The joy and gratitude exhibited by clients have deeply influenced her understanding of community service. Christy says, “Not only did I see the improvement in the client’s quality of life after receiving SNAP benefits, but I was also able to see the client’s mental health improve as they exhibited gratefulness and joy to have their basic needs met.”
Looking ahead, Christy is excited to continue her involvement with Helping Hands Hawai‘i. She believes that the organization provides more than just essential services; it offers a sense of extended family to those it serves. “I look forward to a continued relationship with the Helping Hands organization as a volunteer because I believe this program provides much more to its clients than just the programs available; they provide an extended family.”
