When Aririn suddenly began experiencing a lot of pain, she became worried that something was extremely wrong. The pain was so bad that it prevented her from working. Her fears increased after visiting several doctors in Guam who couldn’t diagnose the problem.
Concerned about her health, Aririn and her two children moved to Hawaii for better access to healthcare. When they arrived Aririn entered a shelter for patients with health-related concerns. Finally, she was able to address her medical issues and get some relief.
After three months, she moved out of the shelter and into low-income housing with her mother and children. But their home wasn’t really a home – it only had a dining set and a bookshelf.
After all they’d been through, Aririn wanted to create a welcoming and healing space for her family, so she reached out to our Community Clearinghouse℠ for help. Through our program, she was able to furnish their home for free with a leather sectional couch, bed, dresser, shelves and kitchen items.
When her children returned from school that day, they were so excited to see a couch in their living room. These additional furniture items helped Aririn and her family transition into their new home.
Because of YOU, our Community Clearinghouse℠ continues to help families, like Aririn’s. Your donations of gently used furniture help ohana when they need it the most.
